Add products and variants
Create a product, add options like size or colour, generate variants with prices and stock, then publish.
Open Products in the menu (it's called Services or Plans for some businesses) and select Add new. You can also ask the assistant to add one for you.
The product
- Basics tab: the name, a short description (up to 300 characters), the full description, up to 20 photos (the first 8 are also shown at checkout) and the variants table with prices.
- Sidebar: What it is (Something you send, A download or A service), Collections, Ask for a delivery address (for things you send) and Sold on request (customers ask for a quote or a visit instead of buying, and their requests arrive in your Inbox). Tags and an optional Stripe tax code (
txcd_…) are under More options. - More details tab: brand, a specifications table and related products (Shown with it).
Options and variants
Every product has at least one variant: the thing a shopper actually buys.
- On the Options tab, add up to 3 options (for example Size and Colour) with their values.
- Save the product (variants are generated from the saved options).
- In the variants table on the Basics tab, select Generate variants. Existing prices and stock are kept.
- Set each variant's price and optional compare-at price, SKU and stock. Tick Track stock to manage stock. To keep selling when stock reaches zero, open the variant from More details → Every option in full and allow backorders.
Prices are per currency. Changing a price creates a new price in Stripe and archives the old one.
Publish
Save a new product as a draft first. To publish it, at least one variant needs a price in your store currency. Published products appear in your store and are sent to Stripe: under More options, the badge shows Synced with Stripe (or Stripe sync needs attention with a Retry button).
Digital products and downloads
Set What it is to A download and add files on the Downloads tab. Files are stored privately; buyers download them from their account after a paid order. Digital products need the Starter plan or above.
Limits
Preview stores can have 10 products, Starter 100, Growth 5,000, and Pro and Agency 25,000. Drafts count too, but the example products your website started with don't. Subscriptions (recurring prices) need Growth, and prices in extra currencies need Pro.
